A very long 23rd December

Posted by: unsharable on: December 24, 2007

Finally settled in and have slept for 5 hours, it is now about 1.30am Canadian time.
The journey here was pretty long. Started with friends and family sending me off at 10.10am followed by a 3 hour 19 minutes flight to Hong Kong. Cathay Pacific upgraded me to the business class and I must say the service was superb!! Had like a 3 course meal for lunch :)

Once at Hong Kong, I had to find the departure level gate 60 for CX888 to Vancouver. Made it in good time and sat and waited for boarding. This time no upgrade of flight but there was no one sitting next to me, only one Hong Kong student at the window seat.

This leg was the longest that I’ve been through so far, not the initial 13 hours that I thought it was but only 10 hours 20 minutes. We were flying really fast I suppose. Didn’t walk about very much and at the end of the trip could feel like an ache in my legs. Watched like 5 movies – but the one that touched me most was Hwang Jin-ni, the legendary courtesan. The sacrifices she had to make… woah! Go check it out in stores, I know they have the drama set as well as the movie in Singapore.

I was really looking forward to the plane from Vancouver to Edmonton, because it will mean the last leg of the flight for me! Reached Vancouver early, then cleared customs with relative ease. Next was blur and did not take my luggage (even though it was tagged as to Edmonton, I actually had to take it out and check in again). They directed me to this phone and I had to ring Cathay Pacific. The problem was no one was answering.. by the second call I was quite frantic. Then this cathay pacific lady came out escorting some children and she told me to wait.

And so I waited until she finally took me in. relieved! Had to lug my 27.4 kg red bag. It is really really heavy. Proceeded to the air Canada check in. And at this point I must say the people I’ve met aren’t exactly very friendly. Makes me wonder what I’ve gotten myself into.

Walked from the international airport to the domestic one and went straight in to sit down. Feeling a little groggy at that moment and wanted to rest. That’s the view I got..View from Edmonton Airport

Finally boarded the smallest plane that I’ve ever taken! It’s a 2 by 2 plane. Given its small size, my head was like touching the roof of the plane. Haha… but surprisingly, the seats had own personal tvs. I was too sleepy by now and dozed off. Woke up maybe about an hour later, and watched digging for the truth. (The airplane does not supply ear phones, so I had to use my own)

At exactly 3pm I reached Edmonton! Hurried out to find yiyi(my aunt) and uncle sang who was buying donuts for me. Drove for about an hour to the house, a peaceful snowy neighbourhood. I took a shower while they prepared steamboat. Hehe, first meal in Canada was a traditional one. There was so much food and we did out best to finish everything. 1st meal in Edmonton

Now its about time to go back to sleep though I feel very much awake. Got to go to the bank in about 5 hours and probably getting some shopping done. What a long long 23rd December I had.
